New Jersey State Triathlon - July 24, 2016 - Katie's Race Report
I don't feel like doing a full race report, so here's a bunch of photos. :-)
I started this race like a hot mess. I had goggle leaking issues during warm up, they pushed up start times due to the pending heat, and moments after kissing Zach goodbye, I realized I still had on flips flops. He had disappeared back into the crowd, so I stowed them behind a trash can in hopes they'd still be there post-race.
Zach said when I came zooming out of the water, sprinting past people, he heard some say "Now THAT is how it's done!!!!"
Bike = fast, flat, with some wind.
Run = really sharp, stabbing lady cramps at miles 3, 4.5 and 5.5. Came on with zero warning. Wanted to walk reeeeeally bad, but told myself I could only slow my pace, no walking.
I was passed by a fellow AGer with 200m to go. She was going so fast I had NO idea where she came from. No catching that chick!
Ended up 6th place AG - about what I expected.
What I learned? I have NO idea how to pace for an Olympic-distance race! I can do sprint, and I can do 70.3 and Ironman, but Olympic is a really hard in-between when you don't train for that distance!
Transition is set up! Nothing to do but chill!
Beets do a body good!

I'm somewhere towards the front of that group.

These post-race cold showers made the whole thing worth it!
Obligatory teammate photo shoot :-)

Our new roof rack - purchased a day before the drive down. :-)
