IRONMAN 70.3 Austin - October 29, 2017 - Katie's Race Report
This was a race that was never supposed to happen. On October 22, I was scheduled to race IM 70.3 New Orleans. Due to an unfortunate weather system which included a smorgasbord of conditions including, but not limited to: lightning, squall lines of rain, and wind gusting up to 60 mph, the entire race was cancelled. Racked and ready in New Orleans - weather? Not so much... NOLA was supposed to be my season closer. Any other time, I probably would have just cut my losses and called it a year. However, since I found out while in New Orleans that I was pregnant, I realized that would probably be my last race for a while. Bummed that I didn’t have my final hurrah, I was on my phone looking for “last hurrah” 70.3 before we even loaded my soggy bike back into the car to head to the hotel.
