Overcoming Myself: The Bigger Deal About My IRONMAN Finish
Aside from the accomplishment of racing and finishing an IRONMAN, this journey has been about the bigger picture for me. I’ve struggled with an eating disorder on-and-off since I was 13. Last November, my treatment team begged, pleaded, and tried to reason with me that I needed to go inpatient to focus on treating my eating disorder, which had started to rear its head again. I went so far as to do an admission interview with the treatment facility before ultimately refusing to go – citing some bullshit excuses, which I knew were just that…bull. I was quickly spiraling to an unhealthy place, and, in hopes of putting a kibosh on my treatment team’s threats, I decided to try a few things. 1. I expanded my support team.
