ITU Long Course World Championships, Oklahoma City - September 24, 2016 - Katie's Race Report
PRE-RACE September was a whirlwind of travel. Late Thursday night, Zach and I arrived home from Australia after nearly 30 hours of continuous travel. I had a grand total of 3 days - just enough time for me to do laundry, repack, and enjoy one last swim at the Y under blue skies before they put the bubble back up for winter - before driving cross-country for World Championship #2. On Friday, I received confirmation from Tri Bike Transport that the Tomahawk had successfully landed on Oklahoma soil, thus eliminating the need for me to drive to Oklahoma with Jameson in-tow. There was no guarantee he'd be back from Oz when I booked Tomahawk's transportation, but hell if I wasn't going to be a gambler. I'm glad it all worked out. Mom arrived Sunday night, and at 7:45am Monday morning, we hit the road, bound for Martha Sue (Mom's first cousin) in Ohio. We drove for 11 hours.
