IRONMAN 70.3 St. George - May 4, 2019 - Katie's Race Report
I registered for this race when I was 7 1/2 months pregnant with the hope that 1.) I would have an uncomplicated delivery, and 2.) that 8 months would be enough time to get my body race-ready. Luckily, both turned out to be true. I stopped running when I was 33 weeks pregnant, mostly because it was no longer fun (or comfortable) having Hunter body-slam my bladder with each stride. I knew that postpartum I really had to work my run as soon as I felt healed/rested/recovered. Thus, these last 8 months have had a heavy run focus. After running a local half marathon in March, I knew my run was in decent shape, and comparable to where I was pre-pregnancy. Not only did I spend the last 8 months getting back into race-shape, I also had another goal on my mind: Qualify for IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships in Nice, France.
