It's Not Over 'til It's Over: IRONMAN 70.3 Puerto Rico - Katie's Race Report

On a snowy Sunday morning in February of last year, I went on a trail run with my triathlon team at Rockefeller State Park . Feeling confident and fast, I started to pick up the pace, and dashed ahead of the group. While gaining speed on the downhill, in the distance behind me I overheard my coach say to a teammate, “Just give her a year.” This is my year. The weeks leading up to this race, I pondered what “motto” I’d like for my third racing season. I settled on: Stronger, faster, smarter. I've worked hard on upping the weights during my strength-training sessions in an effort to be physically stronger . Stronger often = faster . And, this season I am also smarter thanks to being more experienced with nutrition/hydration, pacing, and just racing in general. ------ Let me preface this race report by saying this is the first repeat race I’ve ever done .
