IRONMAN Mont-Tremblant - August 16, 2015 - Zach's Race Report
TLDR I consider this the best race of my life . For months I thought about a goal time, ranging from 13:30 to 15:30 hours depending how I was feeling and performing from week to week. The night before the race, just before bed, I finally landed on 14 hours as my goal and posted it to Facebook for accountability. I ended up beating the 14 hour goal by 33 minutes, beating my wildest dream goal by 3 minutes, obviously super excited with the results. Background I remember hearing about Ironman in high school; thinking how insane those people must be to go 140.6 miles in a day, swimming 2.4 miles, biking 112 miles, running 26.2. Any of those 3 disciplines by itself seemed daunting. Back in 2014 Katie asked me if I wanted to do triathlon. I thought triathlon=Ironman, and agreed, let's do it.
